Best Free Twitter App For Ubuntu Linux
Previously i have been using Windows 7 and i think its the best OS ever experienced. Today i finally decided to dual boot windows 7 and ubuntu 10.4.
After getting my hands on ubuntu linux the first thing i did was to search for a nice looking twitter app. After testing tons of apps i ended up installing “Twhirl”. Twhirl is a social software desktop client, based on the Adobe AIR platform.
To use Twhirl you must install the Adobe Air, Once installed simply visit twhirl.org and click the big button which reads ” Install Now ” , Great news is Twhirl can be run on Windows, Mac, Ubuntu.
Some of twhirl’s features:
- runs on Windows (2000/XP/Vista/Win7) , Ubuntu and Mac OSX
- connects to multiple Twitter, laconi.ca, Friendfeed and Seesmic Video accounts
- displays notifications for new messages
- cross-post your updates to Jaiku and many other sites like Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn and more via Ping.fm
- post images to yfrog
- search tweets using Twitter Search and TweetScan, and follow topics in near-real time with saved searches
- automatically find tweets mentioning your @username
- record a video on Seesmic Video, and share it on Twitter immediately
- get your Seesmic Video updates in real-time using XMPP
- English spell checking

I would like to suggest Pino and Gwibber. Pino is my personal favorite.
