Download Fences for Ubuntu Linux
For all those people who wana use fences for ubuntu linux can download the free app called “Folderview Screenlet” which works as an alternative to Fences in ubuntu linux.
With Folderview Screenlet you can create shaded areas in your desktop just like the fences and you can always change the size and move your icons all over the desktop.

As I commented on Ubuntu Brainstorm ( http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/18447/ vote the idea!!!), Fences and Folderview are completely different.
The difference between Folderview and Fences is that Folderview shows inside a rectangle on the desktop the contents of another folder, while Fences (or what it will be called the Gnome solution) groups inside user-defined rectangles the icons already on the desktop (i.e. inside the user’s desktop folder).
For the user’s point of view, the difference is that in one case you have many folders, each with its files/icons, in the other case you have a single folder, but its contents are organized into rectangles.
