Why I Hate Google Chrome Offline Installer

google chrome logoMost of the people who are been lazy to install Google chrome by online installer uses the so called ” Google Chrome Offline Installer”.

In fact most of us don’t know the the disadvantages for the offline installers.

I remember my friend who had installed google chrome by using the offline installer was not able to update his chrome browser to the latest version, This means the automatic update isn’t available in chrome’s offline installer. This was the error message which he got.

google chrome error

From Google Help, Before we download the offline installer their is a big warning which clearly says :

The version of Google Chrome available from the link below may not auto-update to future browser releases, meaning you could miss important security fixes and feature improvements. If you install Google Chrome using the link below, bookmark this page and check back periodically to manually download newer releases.

Its all up to you weather you wana use the offline or online installer all i can say is i really hate the offline installer.

Online [web] installers are just plain stupid. It’s sorta like getting the cow delivered to your doorstep everytime you need milk.

What happens if you need to re-install 300MB file? Download it again? Not everyone is lucky enough to have a fast connection.

What happens if you have 20 machines on which you need to install the software? Download it 20 times? No senor.

This is 2010. Every piece of software should be able to update itself, or pieces of itself.

You’re correct.. If we’re using Google Chrome thats also from Google.. That’s not pirated.. So Google should allow the users to update the Softwares.. Unless it’s pointless.. Google team.. Please consider this…

Why is there an offline installer for a program that requires internet to be used for its main purpose? (Browsing ONLINE)
Seems pretty ****’n dumb to me…
