Carrier IQ is much like an app/package which comes pre-installed with 1000′s of Android phones out there to track almost everything a user does. In other words all the keys you press, phone calls you have made, text messages, songs you have been listening, website you’ve browsed and whole a lot of other stuff including your emails are send to Carrier IQ.
TrevorEckhart an android developer who discovered this hidden app/package has made a detailed 17 minutes video showing how Carrier IQ is spying on your phone.
If you aren’t sure about CIQ installed on your phone, to check/detect this Trojan you can get a free app called “Bitdefender Carrier IQ Finder” from marketplace. Using this app you can check the presence of the Carrier IQ package on the personal device and, if found, whether it has been enabled by the carrier or not.
How to block Carrier IQ?
There isn’t an easy way to block Carrier IQ, as you can see from the video you can’t force close or unstall it. To get rid of Carrier IQ you need to have a rooted phone. Once you have a rooted device you can follow one of the step below:
1-) Bloat/CIQ Freezer ~ An app which freezes Carrier IQ.
This free app available in android market lets you freez CIQ, It will not be able to run if frozen, Just freeze things like IQRD and HTCIQAgent and your phone will not be logging all your personal info anymore. After freezing CIQ many users have reported that there phone’s battery life was much improved and speed was increased upto 20%.
2-) Install Custom ROM
The great thing about Android is you can install custom ROM’s which almost every other android user does, even if they have to void there phone’s warranty 
, In other words if you flash custom ROM like Cyanogen Mod this will remove CIQ.
